Into the woodland realm of The Babe Rainbow

The Babe Rainbow by Megan Costello

Tucked away in the hills of Byron Bay is a little music studio where tunes are crafted and bananas are munched.

Guitar chords meet cold beers, tambourines meet muddy feet.

Inside the studio, is psychedelic rock band The Babe Rainbow. They’re a colorful group made up of Angus, Jack, Elliot and Miles.

As I sit there, Zeitgeist is being created. It’s a soft melodic drift into the abyss.

The October breeze rolls through tiny windows, breaking the hinterland heat. The chickens are about and Jack’s rooster Rodney crows in time with the music.
Most of their songs are about friends, family and love. The lyrics mirror the world of Byron Bay, with abundant fruit trees, endless bird song and ocean dips.

As the day wears on their electric guitar and bongos fade into the soft grasses of the hills.

And so lives the musical world of The Babe Rainbow.
